I like that selection.

It puts me in mind of the group of discs Gordon Bennett would come back with on a Saturday.

Yes.
Ua = Ru is a very usual mistake. "Wild Is The Wind" song is by ?Dimitri Tiomkin? who was born in Ukraine (not Ru), Natalie Wood is Ukrainian (not Ru).

Oh yes.

All of that makes sense.

There is another terrific version of the magical Wild Is The Wind by Nina Simone.

I want that Thunderclap Newman one. I bought a few last week. About 30 this year alone. Ten Years After live, Kilburn and the High Roads, West Bruce and Laing among others.

John Lennon's widow wrote to me for therapy to overcome her tragic loss. I replied,
'Dear Prudence - Aisumasen (I'm sorry), Dear Yoko,
Good morning, good morning from me to you. I imagine out the blue it's so hard you're crippled inside. Nobody loves you when you're down and out, not even Her Majesty, so you gotta carry that weight. Oh Yoko! How do you sleep? How? Whatever gets you through the night? Do you twist and shout? I want to tell you, woman, there's a place to cry, baby, cry - yah yah - while my guitar gently weeps too. Think for yourself, for no one else within or without you, of cold turkey. It's easy if you try, yes it is! No beef jerky, savoy truffle, honey pie (even wild honey pie) and it's just like starting over, because, girl, all you need is love so we all shine on. Just give me some truth! This'll please Mr Postman, who doesn't mind games, and I don't mean Mr Mustard, who's just a jealous guy. Goodnight.
Doctor Robert, Yesterday, from strawberry fields back in the USSR to New York City's Attica State, via Penny Lane (Meat City)
The End.
PS I love you... Here comes the son, so love you too, Mother's beautful boy (darling boy). Love me do, this boy, just because I'm mother nature's son and my mummy's dead.'
No reply.

Sorry Michael but I avoid long posts. I saw the first couple of lines though.

Does anyone know why there are 70 lines on a sheet of an A4?

34 plus 34 plus 1 plus 1.

It seems a strange number.

No "why don't we do it in the road"......?

Dana's album "My Time", released on 1 November 2019, is her 32nd studio album since 1970. She's 69. Having come through a cancer scare and, with deeply conservative politics, two failed bids to be President of Ireland, and something close to a breakdown, she's gone back to music. A few songs are written by the group The Rua who are her nieces and nephews and apparently like a cross between the Cranberries and the Corrs. Some others are covers. She wrote another of them with her son. So far, so not entirely unpredictable Then it gets weirder. The keyboard player is in High Flying Birds and was with Oasis. The piano player has worked with George Michael - it was Michael who gave him a recording contract - as well as, Prince and Julian Lennon among many others, one bass player worked with Blondie and wrote their song "One Way or Another" and the other worked with Lou Reed for the last 15 years of his life. The drummer was in Tears for Fears and the guitarist is allegedly the modern day version of Jimi Hendrix. The result? Pop rather than cutting edge rock - but it's contemporary and it is a significant departure for her. And this does make it an interesting and rewarding experience.

Not my type.

Since you lust after the Spicers,I didn't think you were that picky.

That was disrespectful. To Sporty.
I dated an italic, but it wasn't my type.
I dated a frog, but it wasn't Kermitted.
I dated a member of One Direction, but it was a bastard.

You haven't had much luck to date.

This one comes from the Bob Harris area of the internet. New-ish. London based. Appealing old time Americana a la Band/Byrds/Tom Petty etc. And a Kurt Cobain haircut.

The Hanging Stars - Heavy Blue:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54KhUo4chK0

I've just found this lot on American internet radio. We've heard this sort of thing before but there is something about their vocals and their guitars which stand out to me.

The DuPont Brothers - Ben's Song:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V35F5RodEds

This is one of the artists I missed in my round-up of 2019. I found the song in the last couple of days on a college radio station in the American Mid West. Very bluesy/rootsy.

Bonnie Bishop - The Walk:

And another one missed until this weekend was on the great Cillian Murphy show on 6 Music. He is standing in for Guy Garvey and has an impeccably offbeat musical taste,

Aldous Huxley - Zoo Eyes:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTgyJ8jWD3M

Murphy also played this piece of excellence from 1968.

Terry Callier - Cotton Eyed Joe:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urzhJqPejkk

Also on 6 Music, Stuart Maconie has been playing this very odd bunch from 1991.

The Revolutionary Army of the Infant Jesus- Psalm (Mirror):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ha0s4VbskGE

On BBC Radio Essex, Keith "Carboard Shoes" Skues dug out this ode from 1966. The trifle manages to cover several areas that today are not politically correct while also somehow in its humour sort of predicting where with plastic we are now.

The Serendipity Singers - Plastic:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weu3_HzG71U

And last night I heard a KALX California college radio girl playing this for a lesbian friend. Lyrically and production wise, it is very contemporary. It also has a massively strong tune which sounds borrowed. I'm surprised it hasn't been a No 1 hit.

King Princess - Hit The Back:

(These two posts have officially been sent directly from my One Man Global Monitoring Station) Cool

I'm going to check them out but a quick "it's good to see Cardboard Shoes is still around".I never understood why he was sacked from Radio 1.

Keith Skues MBE no less is coming up for 81 now but his 2200 GMT Sunday show goes out on BBC Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire, Northampton and Three Counties. It's kind of apt as the coastline of this East Anglia Plus region is very much where pirate radio on the ships in the 1960s was focussed.

Cillian Murphy of Peaky Blinders fame (not that I watch it or anything else that he has acted in) has turned out to be an absolute revelation as a laid back sounding music fan on BBC 6 Music. This show has been noted by quite a few long term radio watchers as a somewhat hidden and what these days is a rare radio gem.
