Thank you.

That is from Travis's "The Invisible Band" which has a lot more subtlety than they were give credit for : I like it a lot.

Thanks for your positive response which is appreciated.

Are you on Spotify?

I could put a list of most of these tracks together on Spotify if you are on that site although it wouldn't include the more obscure tracks. You can probably see that I have deliberately gone for wide ranging so that there is something for everyone although I haven't posted anything that I see no merit in. I think they have all got something even if the overall standard of music isn't what it was ten and more years ago even when you do avoid most chart material which I do.

Thanks for the offer.

I'm a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to music streaming. Just YouTube and Soundcloud.

One day I'll try and teach myself (or get some help) to make a Playlist on YouTube. :)

OK GK - I'm a dinosaur on most other things so it evens out! :)

I'm not sure if this means you have access to You Tube? I would be interested to hear if you have any recommendations of pop/rock/folk/jazz/trad from Ukraine in 2019. Possibly the most notable Ukraine related release of the year was in the classical music field - a recording on Chandos by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra no less of the nicely dramatic Symphony No 3 by Boris Lyatoshinsky: https://iclassical.co.uk/top-recommendation-for-lyatoshynskys-symphony-no-3/.

The Final Chapter - Numbers 141 -150

Along the way, I've cheekily stuck in a few classical music discs and this section in part adds to those, beginning with my favourite lost British woman composer who at one time, when alive, lived just across the trees from me. Finally, people are recording her work and in September Somm Records brought us a rendition of her Piano Concerto by Murray McLachlan:

RIP Neal Peart.

I am genuinely upset. It's always sad when so done passes but Rush and Neil's lyrics mean so much more to me than most. And that's before you get to the fact that the man was one of the greatest drummers ever to sit behind a kit. How anybody could play La Villa Strangiato or Xanadu live astonishes me, thank goodness there are so many videos and live recordings. The below drum solo is one of my favourite pieces of his.

Thanks for these. I find them quite nice with a range of influences but maybe a bit melancholic. Ukraine offers more music historically than is easy to deduce. What with the lengthy period of the Soviet Union, I find myself saying "oh x and y from Russia" were good and people say "no, they weren't from Russia but Ukraine". Whatever, there is no mistaking the band from Yorkshire (and other parts of the UK) which as a spin off from the Wedding Present went under the title "The Ukrainians" due to one member's heritage. The following folk song which they punked up - or something very, very similar under the title Dorogoi Dlinnoyu ("By the long road") - was the basis to the clip after it, a No 1 song in the UK in 1968.

The Ukrainians, from '88 - Davni Chasy - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GQi8rkE61I

Yes.
Ua = Ru is a very usual mistake. "Wild Is The Wind" song is by ?Dimitri Tiomkin? who was born in Ukraine (not Ru), Natalie Wood is Ukrainian (not Ru).
