Does Mother Nature know something we don't about being gay?

Traditional evolutionary theory suggests that being gay offers no advantages.

If that's true, it must surely be strange that same-sex attraction has been by no means unusual in humans since time immemorial and that it has been reported more recently in at least 1500 species of animals.

What's going on?

Scientists aren't sure but tonight on Channel 4 at 9pm, some of them discuss their ideas.

There's also input from a sheep breeder who tells us some rams are exclusively homosexual and it's very bad for business!

Well worth a watch, I think.

Hence the expression- woolly woofter

Mother Nature says that sex has no advantage apart from procreation.

The people who were involved in D-Day. England's World Cup Victory in 1966 and the Moon Landings were not having sex.

That tells you all you need to know about sex and Mother Nature.

But, yes, animals are surprising.

I was eating a Cornish pasty outside Coughlans the day before yesterday and there was a dog next to me which had been formally diagnosed with hay fever.

My rottie used to cross his front paws when he was lay down which made him look effeminate. If there were animals on TV he would watch it with crossed paws and it made me laugh. He was a real dog's dog but if he ever came out I wouldn't have minded.
