BBC Writers Room - Radio Script Format

Hi,

Arghhhh!

I can't seem to get word to make my script look like the example on the BBC page.

Is it done using tabs or something?

Thanks,

Tinklejuice

Yes, take a tab and everything will seem OK.

In word go to 'paragraph' settings. Under 'indentation' change the 'special' dropbox to 'hanging' and the 'by' dropbox to 4cm- that works well. Hit tab after the character name or whatever et voila!

Hey Andy,

Thanks for that it seems to be working :)

Unless every T is dotted and every eye poked out, the BBC are legend for rejecting scripts due to a missing full stop. As far as beeb are concerned if you can't get a simple full stop right, how can the rest of it being any good.. think about it.

Stands to reason, as Alf Garnett would have said.

I would say it's nice to get the format as close as you can but no need to be anal surely. Not unless anal is your thing.

As you were..

:)

I have to admit that I haven't actually heard of that particular legend.

On the contrary, it has always been my belief that if you send the BBC comedy bods a really funny script, even if it's handwritten in felt-tip pen on a soggy toilet roll, you are highly likely to get a callback no matter how bad your spelling and punctuation might be!

Okay, I might be exaggerating slightly, but I'm sure you get my point.

Good luck for those trying the BBC Drama Room(.)

Has it just opened?

No - 10 December.
