This Time With Alan Partridge

The BBC have today revealed details of the new Alan Partridge show: it's an evening magazine programme, much like The One Show, with Alan taking over as temporary male co-presenter: This Time With Alan Partridge.

Legend.

I always imagined Alan would have done the reality TV scene, Celebrity Big Brother or the Jungle one.

Jurassic Park!

Thanks for the announcement Aaron :) *rubs hands and cracks open a tin of Directors*

World Cup in the summer and now this. As filming has just started I hope it's not too late in the year but I should try to forget about it now and just wait for the release date.

Only he left the mainstream BBC in 1995, before either show started.

I mean if Coogan ever did a third series of "I'm Alan Partridge" it could be that Alan is back in the celebrity spotlight and getting TV offers once again, after appearing in one of those kind of shows,

My point is you kind of need to be generally seen by national BBC or ITV to be on those shows.

The thing is he's written Partridge as a Brexiteer and trying to make them all look bigots through "comedy". I'm not sure I'll want to watch it as he's an arch remoaner.

Coogan is pretty much dabbling in anything for his Partridge character, except an actual series like 'I'm Alan Partridge'.

Go hard or go home! We want more IAP!

Well I do, anyway.

Alan Partridge would be perfect for a high octane reality show where he joins someone for their shift at work. One week it could be him joining a quick response firearms unit on the streets of London and next week it's a nightshift shadowing a consultant at a Paediatric Intensive Care Unit. David Brent would also be perfect for something like that.

Would like to see more IAP or he resurrects Paul Calf.

Partridge was great in his day, was it really 25 years ago! Coogan is a very funny performer but he's self indulgent and can't leave some things alone, like Partridge or politics. All multimillionaires who preach about socialism and how nasty capitalism is are dickheads. Either give all your wealth away to the poor or shut the eff up as it makes you look ridiculous.

Well said! They can put them up in their mansions like Lily Allen did - oh hang on a minute.....

Put on the DVD Alan Partridge And Other Less Successfull Characters last night and noticed there were extras which I hadn't seen before. There was a 30 minute behind the scenes footage that I had to watch for 10 minutes before realising it wasn't a spoof. It showed Coogan arriving at the O2 and checking out the stage in an empty arena and then it showed him doing costume changes backstage of all the characters. Superb and rare to see a serious documentory of Coogan behind the scenes. Or should that be behind the fake boobs.

The great thing about Partridge is how the character developed - from shy minor feature in spoofs to a full-on comedy giant, able to sustain one of the best sitcoms I've seen. (They even pulled off a decent film, which is more than can be said for most sitcoms, even Porridge and Steptoe). I was (am) a huge Young Ones fan but even I got bored of Rik and Ade carbon copying the same characters again and again.
Right, that's this year's positive comment outa the way. Time to slag everything off again, including myself.
