A POEM. SEVEN PENCE.

Seven pence, scattered on the ground,
Love letters lying all around
And each one signed with a tear.
All of them from me to you, my dear.
Seven sorry faces in the crowd,
Seven sad sermons read out loud.
Every time I see you I could cry,
Every time I leave you I could die.
Her father's always Sir Bertrand
And her mother's name's Hermione,
So pray do tell how I can square the farce,
And ask a girl called Jemima
If she'll take it...?
