Geoffrey Bayldon

Only just found out today that he had died on May 10. As a kid, I loved watching him as Catweazle. And later as the Crowman in Wurzel Gummidge. Knocked back the role of Doctor Who (twice). But did end up appearing in the 1979 Tom Baker serial The Creature from the Pit (in which the titular creature was just a large green cock on a glob). Was perfectly cast as the voice of Getafix in the English dubbing of one of the Asterix cartoon films. And as Professor Calculus in an early dubbing of a Tintin cartoon. Appeared as a bit-player and supporting actor in so many series and films. Always entertaining to watch, and Catweazle remains great.

RIP

There was also references to "telling bone" and "fire in a jar", wasn't there?

He was also the randy solicitor in Blott too.

And different characters in All creatures great and small.

"Sun in a bottle" was his reference to the "elec-trickery" of light bulbs.

Yes, good in Blott.

For horror fans, he was excellent as the lead in Asylum, a 1972 Amicus film in which a young doctor has a job interview at an asylum for the criminally insane -- and to get the job he has to interview the patients and work out which one is the chief psycho. A chilling film: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwiNBVBsCaA (co-starring Patrick Magee, Herbert Lom, Britt Ekland and Peter Cushing).
