America sending greetings to the Old Land!

Hello,
we are two wacky American Lasses that love the British humor and just started our production company in pursuit of making silly videos.
Would you kindly tell us if this is funny for you? - The trailer for our webseries "Extreme Pet Owners" - a mockumentary about America's craziest pet owners:

Any critique would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Amanda and Rita (Rita, the meter maid)

Reminded me a bit of Maria Bamford's cat crazy character on Tim and Eric. Except maybe less insane...or more insane. I can't tell. Kind of slightly reminds me of the relationship between Charlie and Mac's moms on It's Always Sunny In Philidelphia as well.

Whereabouts are you from? Are those your actual accents? I can't place them. Some kind of southern-ish area, or just regular garden variety hick? (I'm American also...but I'm kind of clueless about American things.)

Anyhow, I enjoyed the video. I think you've got something there. Not entirely sure what, but would be interested to see where you go with it.

I don't know if I have any real criticism to offer. I like the characters, and the writing and it's pretty smooth. The only thing that strikes me as slightly stale is the format. The reality TV/office-style/mockumentary thing with the has sort of been done to death by now, in my mind. Don't know how I would go about making that more novel, but maybe it doesn't need that. Are you a fan of Maria Bamford? Her show Lady Dynamite is one of the only recent US comedies that I really enjoyed, and it takes that eccentric rural crazy cat lady type thing you're kind of tapping into into some really hilarious and entertaining territory without making it a mockumentary. I don't know if that's helpful or insightful, or even makes sense. I'm sure you don't want to just try to make a show that already exists. But anyway!

Welcome, from a fellow wacky (although I hate that word) American lass who loves British comedy. Best of luck! :)

Reminiscent of Best in Show (2000).

A little hard to hear Darlene's first words. Logically, the next step should be a "species-change operation" for cats that want to become dogs. Or giraffes. This simple operation involves transplanting the brain into a donor animal.

This is hilarious. Very funny and you both work very well together and should focus on developing that. You interact with each other in a way that I find humorous because it creates tension in a mockumentory kind of way.

Anything you want to say to the camera Darlene?

No I'm good

I ain't talking to you no more. Go to hell Darlene.

No

You dont even know how to read [Darlene]

I sure do

The fall on the steps was brilliant timing not just in the context of the scene but the whole video and the soundtrack works perfectly at keeping the atmosphere jovial when you are arguing. The overall editing of the video is excellent quality and I want to see more. Naturally I don't mean more in a pornographic way and I think you should avoid doing anything pornographic unless I'm involved in some way.

Some classic British reading material you might not have heard of but which I'm reminded of and can see you guys really making a dent.

The production and acting are very good. But the premise of a gender changing cat, is more like a map cap Monty Python sketch than a Mockumentary. Darlene's visual comedy was excellent, but again more on the slap sick side of things. Great stuff, would like to see more.

I think the premise works...at least in the US. I can legitimately imagine someone thinking their cat needs gender reassignment.

People are crazy. Crazy cat people are crazy. I know a vegan lady who buys and feeds her cats exclusively on sirloins. She also has a water tank with a treadmill at the bottom for her cat to exercise on because it has bad hips. She also won't go anywhere near a microwave, and makes you turn off your cell phone if you ride in her car or go in her house, and makes you take a shower as soon as you enter your house if you've washed your hair with shampoos containing "chemicals", or are wearing normal people deodorant (the non organic hemp hippy stuff), or god forbid, are wearing some kind of lotion, or have washed your clothing in regular clothing detergent. She hasn't got OCD...she's just some kind of new breed of hippy whackjob.

It's mad, but I don't think it's madcap.

Bottom line: Never underestimate how batshit crazy Americans can be.

Random sidenote: in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, a woman gets a "species change" to become a cat. It's quite funny.

I enjoyed it and looking foreward to the next pet owner.
(Our dog is a she but thinks she's a he but we all very happy with that.)
