RIP Alan Simpson

Of Galton & Simpson fame
RIP

Very sad news. Galton and Simpson will obviously go down as one of the great writing partnerships.

Comedy-wise, this puts a lot of other RIP's in the shade.
His output pretty well defines UK sitcom.

Steptoe was massive when it first aired, absolutely massive.

Loved Hancock and Steptoe.

RIP

Oh God no!! I was only watching him on my HHH box set at the weekend.

Oh, that has really upset me. Teary

Yes, RIP Mr. Simpson and please give my regards to Tony when you see him, and Harry & Wilfrid too.

What a loss

:(

Stone me. Sadness at Oil Drum Lane and Railway Cuttings.

Sad news RIP, a great loss to the comedy world.

I was given a print of a still from "The Blood Donor", signed by both Alan Simpson & Ray Galton, for my retirement gift 18 months ago. Added poignancy now. RIP.

RIP Alan.
You and Ray have made me laugh so much over the years.Thankyou so much.

One of the greats. RIP.

That's another great writer from the past gone. Really enjoyed all the work that came out from his writing partnership with Ray Galton. It's uncanny to think that this week The Galton & Simpson comedy 1 off sitcom series has been released on DVD.

Remind me, are Shakespeare and Magna Carta gone?
