Al Pachinko - King of LPs and Walkthroughs: A Tribute

Hi folks, I produced a no-budget film for a weird comic character of mine. Please do sub on YouTube if you like.

-The blurb:

'Online superfan Necrotony94 presents a tribute to the self-proclaimed king of videogame walkthroughs, Al Pachinko. Through video logs, mobile phone and walkthrough footage, his odd little world is brought to light. He can pay his rent, and plays games for a living - the dream scenario. Surely he's happy? Well, not quite.'

-The film nerd waffle:

The film seeks to frame the 'mockumentary' format in a different way by looking through the lens of modern technology. The online subculture of 'Let's Play' videos produce minor celebrities in the players that film themselves playing videogames, who have tremendously active fanbases. Some fans even make 'tribute' and 'best of' videos spliced from available footage, and 'Al Pachinko: A Tribute' attempts to capture the uneasy tension of the fan becoming the editor. The inclusion of 'real-life' footage underscores the fact that despite being largely unknown outside their own subculture, the relative level of celebrity leads to some bizarre and often celebrated invasions of privacy.

Cheers,
Nick
