10 interesting facts about the Spice Girls
1 Stop was the first Spice Girls single not to reach Number One. Stop Stopped at Number 2, putting a Stop to their run of number ones.
2. Emma was the last to join the group. She became known as Baby and in a sense was the Baby, as she was the last to join the group.
3. Two of the girls were called Melanie, or Mel for short. To avoid confusion, they used the names Mel B and Mel C, which are short forms for their surnames. C is then the third abbreviation I have used in my 10 interesting facts about the Spice Girls.
4. Geri's full name is Geraldine, but she shortened it to Geri, the short form, for short. Geri is then the fourth abbreviation I have used in my 10 interesting facts about the Spice Girls. It has nothing to do with cartoon mouse Jerry, but Geri is probably aware of the fellow.
5. In 1996, Sun readers (so it must be true) voted Geri 'favurite Spice, for having a great personality - or two of them!' This is a jocular reference to tits, which are popular with the paper's buyers. Unforunately, Geri's triumph was short-lived, as 6 months later they voted her 'most annoying Spice', with no reference to either tit. Fickle!
6. Three of the Spice Girls reformed last year as Gem: Geri, Emma and Mel. 'Gem' is then the fifth abbreviation I have used in my 10 interesting facts about the Spice Girls.
7. All the girls have a favourite colour, pet and holiday resort, just like everyone else.
8. Wannabe is the girls' best known video, but Spice Up Your Life was the most expensive, Too Much had the most guest appearances and Say You Will Be There remains most condusive to shooting one's wad over. I checked,
9. When Geri left the group in 98, they sang 'Goodbye'. Goodbye is an English expression when someone leaves a group, and discerning fans tapped a subliminal message to Geri, who left the group in 98.
10. That is the end of my 10 interesting facts about the Spice Girls. I hope you enjoyed them.

The BBC doing again what they did time and time again for Lord Elpus (or was that ITV?) by running a talent show on prime time TV so the main person involved gets mega amounts (££££££££) of free publicity for the show they intend to put on the West End.

Oh well, Saturday nights f**ked up again, but why should I care as I have so many DVDs to watch I don't know where to start. :) So thanks Beeb, Beeb Ceeb for giving me the opportunity to catch up on my preferred viewing.

He is overflowing with personality.

Has anyone watched 'Pop Quiz' last week?
I did. I quite liked it. It was harmless fun and it was nice to see some of the familiar faces of the 80s, among them the singer of Haircut 100 and the frontwoman of T'Pau. A bit older looking now but still recogniseable.
Was this a one off thing or the start to a new series?

When was this on?

Chuck Berry at 90 seems the most intriguing.

No, it's not André Rieu! :D

Not sure if this video will play outside of the United States, but if it doesn't, do your best to track down Sturgill Simpson's performance of "Call to Arms" on Saturday Night Live. It's epic.

That doesn't work for me but this does.

All of Sturgill's performances are great, but the one on SNL was exceptionally fiery. I'll PM you (and anyone else who is interested) a link to a download of the video.
