I found a special CD edition of Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen in a charity shop. Playing it now and it's the first time I've ever heard the whole album. Still sounds fresh so must've been dynamic when it first came out.

RIP Gilli Smyth

Are they going out together to celebrate?

I think Gene would charge Rob for letting him go out with him, the crafty, moneygrabbing businessman that he is.

Shaun Murphy was on Room 101 tonight. He blinded me with his new set of extra white teeth.

I know what I'd put into Room 101: Legendary rock survivors that ruin their hard bastard image with new American style teeth like Shaun Ryder, Keith Richards and Lemmy. That doesn't suit you, it's not cool, goddammit!!!

Foals sounding good at Reading right now, on BBC4.

Saw a bit of RHCP -Under the Bridge etc.

Always had mixed views about them. Not really ever my band but I got an easy extension on my overdraft limit one Saturday morning in the 1990s when a meeting at 11.50am with two 24 year old bank managers had to be cut short by them because they were off to see them. So it really did become in that moment the bank that liked to say yes to anything purely for its own (Sutton) staff's gig going convenience.

Sad news.

It wasn't that long ago that Daevid Allen left us.

They're pretty lousy. I think they're bigger in the UK than here, because I always see people wearing their shirts when I visit. They get a lot of airplay on their home turf of Los Angeles, but thankfully I don't see or hear much from them in my neck of the woods.

Interesting comments - thanks.

I like being given insights into other countries' perspectives.

The RHCP albums are ok, guilty pleasures. But I've seen them live on their By The Way or Stadium Arcadium tour...Gawd, they were crap. No real energy, every half decent uptempo song was followed by one of their boring, melodic singles/ballads, as if they didn't want to scar away the teeny fraction of their audience.

Again, interesting and there are more doubters than I had thought. I saw some of Biffy Clyro yesterday who I used to think were sort of ok but more doubts crept in about them too.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Carpool Karaoke

Echoing other comments, was disappointed and underwhelmed by their headline set at the Isle of Wight two years ago, but I still like some of their records, though I never listen to them any more, but then that's true of lots of stuff (some of it great).

That's a good clip.

What festivals have you been to in the past two years?

Didn't you go to the one in Suffolk?

You probably mean Latitude which sounds like a good one, but I've never been.

I went to Isle of Wight, and Festival No. 6 (in Portmeirion), both in 2014. Festival No. 6 was great, would recommend it.
