Newsjack 2016 Page 9

Hi. Don't send pdf - send rtf (best) or word doc. I guess the reason is that they need to make changes and paste into the final script and pdf makes that harder.

Bugger! I didn't even think about that!

Do you think they'll still read them, even though I sent everything this week in PDF form?

(Also, thank you for your help!)

Sorry, I don't know.

Thank you anyway, I might tweet them just to put my mind at rest either way!

Thank you!

Just in case anybody else is wondering, Newsjack do accept PDF files but they said 'we much prefer doc. files 1000x more'.

Phew!

Fingers crossed for tomorrow!

When do you send off for next week, do you have to wait till Friday

I'd leave it until Sunday or Monday to send anything off, partly because on Friday the stories they'll cover probably won't even have happened yet. Unless it's something you know for sure that's going to happen between the Saturday and Wednesday before broadcast (e.g. Oscars, major sporting event) I'd hold back.

You want to make sure it's something that would still be topical by next Thursday when they broadcast and not something that would have been covered in last week's topical shows like News Quiz etc.

I largely agree, but News Quiz is recorded on Thursday, isn't it, so you should be safe by Friday. What's more, NJ does broadcast sketches which aren't particularly topical, despite what they'd have us believe; just so long as the sketch doesn't absolutely stink of 'last week.'

Did anyone go to the latest recording? Or do I have to wait until the broadcast to know I didn't get in it?

Having made my first ever submissions this week, I did not realise how nerve-wracking the wait to see if any of them made it would be.

I went last night. Very high standard again, like last week even the pick-ups got good laughs.

Have inevitably forgotten a few, so apologies if I don't mention something that makes it to broadcast.

- Kanye rant about money saving tips
- Ocean's 11 / Kids Charity "Mesmeriser"
- Osborne talks down to Tusk on EU referendum
- Obama calls Castro about missile sent in error
- Sport relief Eddie Izzard pastiche (Nish interviewed about going to prison for 27 years)
- Nish interviews HSBC rep about them staying in London (prat vacuum)
- Movie trailer about the Pope's love letters
- Gravity waves conversation for the uninitiated
- Physics being taught by an English teacher

Also worth noting that the presenters (actors?) did a great job too.

Good luck if any of that stuff is yours, and good luck for next week!

"He's obviously forgotten my sketch" - everyone in this thread.

Or, in my case.....
Bugger, that's the same subject matter as mine.
