I was introduced to britcoms from pbs and local broadcasts. I seem to remember from a very young age that the first britcom I ever saw was Benny Hill. We used to stay up late at night, and watch on a local channel. My aunt hated it, but we snuck a peak whenever we could.
Then I was introduced to the shows on pbs. I fell in love instantly.
