Hi, I'm Scott and I want to create a...

I have a project I want to build a team of writers around. I have a current script that is merely a starting point to work from. The idea is that it is a style of sketch show with a concept that gives it a loose thread that holds it together.

The basic concept is that each episode starts at a bar ran by three friends, then though an assortment of random events the tales move away from the pub where the viewers encounter different random scenarios and events each time. Eventually each episode would finish with the chance events finishing back at the bar. The only consistent characters in the series would be the three friends who feature at the start and end, and sometimes in between. I wouldn't like to have Lou and Andy style characters being repeated and done to death, though the odd character or familiar event could reoccur now and again.

I originally started putting this together because my brother and I have been doing some walk on parts and last week we work on a docu film for the History channel that got us interested again. I wrote the initial script with the intention of acting it out on film and sending it off to production companies as our suggestion for a show but at the moment it still needs strengthening, then perhaps later on if we (the proposed writers) build a good team, we can still do that, who knows?

Best regards

Scott

Sounds like an interesting proposal. What kind of humour are you going for? Slapstick? Witty wordplay? Dark and cutting?

Think Monty Python, visual humour with a hint of darkness and a slap of British humour. Anyone who wants to possibly be involved and bring their own input, talent to the table can email me at scott.evans@evansvisualarts.com

Hi Scott. It might be worth making an entry in the Writers' Directory on this site.

How do you do that?

Use the form here.

Could anyone recommend a good site where I could find people interested in working on a comedy script as a team or partners?

Yep, this one!

Hi Scott. That idea seems good. How many people would you have in mind for the team?

Last week I got two writers involved, one screen writer and a graduate writer, as well as myself. I think six would be the absolute limit, but ideally just a good solid group, don't want too many cooks in the kitchen

If anyone is interested you can see the begining script and notes at http://www.myspace.com/evansvisual_arts under the blog titled Barstewards

That link doesn't work for me. :(

The link hould just of been http://www.myspace.com/evansvisual_arts

Had a quick read. It's good. I like the dark humour.

Well bascially I have used myspace to network and get in touch with other writers to put a group together to write a comedy

The aim of this group is to build a team of writers who will work together to write the best professional comedy series or film. There is a current script that is a starting point to work from. The theme thus far is that it is a sketch show with a concept that gives it a loose thread that holds the sketches together.

If you are interested you can view the script at http://www.myspace.com/evansvisual_arts under the blog titled Barstewards and join the group at http://groups.myspace.com/barstewards

Look forward to seeing what you think

Best regards

Scott
