Sad to hear. R.I.P.

Wonder whether the heart attack was due to the new Through The Keyhole series being televised last night?

Rip fella

Sad news, RIP.

Far from universally popular, but incredibly important and influential. RIP.

Sad news, Rest In Peace

Alas Sir David..

Ooops he was only 74 years old...
Just a teeny bit older than me ... just 2% older than me.

RIP David Frost, you will be sadly missed by a lot of people.

David Frost was a very skilled backroom wheeler-dealer and producer who got to be a presenter as well. In The Frost Report for example he bought an incredible amount of talent under one roof; the future Pythons, Goodies and Ronnies, Tom Lehrer, David Nobbs, Marty Feldman, Anthony Jay. And Frost had realised his own comedic limitations by then and was happy to be the ringmaster.

But Frost the legendary cunning political interviewer I am not so sure about.

But here is David Frost the inteviewer at his height exposing the vile liar and intellectual lightweight there was hiding behind Enoch Powell's classically trained rhetorical bullshit.

Goodies

Peter Cook's sincerest regret etc, etc ... The Goodies lampooning him in etc, etc.

Barely interesting to see The Daily Mail here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-1285760/Sir-David-Frost-says-Peter-Cook-proud-saving-life.html
lifting the "bubonic plagiarist" and "World Domination Badge" stuff from an old BCG thread: https://www.comedy.co.uk/forums/thread/12102/3/
yet the Tele managed to get the facts wrong, wrongly attributing the "bubonic plagiarist" line to the Goodies (it was Cook's line) and muddling the World Domination Badge stuff. Crap journalism.

Here in the states I only knew of him as a interviewer, and an important one at that. Only in recent years did I fully come to realize the influence the man had on the UK comedy scene, and I keep finding out more every day.

RIP Sir.

Yes RIP indeeed.

Made his name ripping off Peter Cook's joke and style at Cambridge then got a TV show ripping off Cook's comedy club, The Establishment.

Cook kinda found him a sad pathetic figure with nothing of his own and let him all away with it.
Now he's remembered for one good interview, and the Keyhole show of course.

Here's to Frosty, the ultimate carpet bagger.
