Nicholas Lyndhurst in New Tricks

Not sure where to post this.

I think he's good as 'Danny Griffin' - dour, sarcastic, perceptive and cunning. Looking forward to more.

I think we have a New Tricks thread already because I for one love the show. Amanda Redman of course is the main attraction but she is soon to be replaced by Tamsin Outhwaite.

Going back to the question seems strange to see him playing "straight-ish."

He played Heap very well in David Copperfield I recall.

Hey fella

Lyndhurst is good in lugubrious hardman mode, as he showed in Rock and Chips, but I cannot warm to Dennis Lawson's dapper Glaswegian, and Dennis Waterman's acting becomes ever cruder. I watched an old episode of Minder the other day which brought home to me the extent of his decline.

Amanda Redman's departure will I think be my cue to jump ship.

I think he is awful in this. I prefer him doing sitcom stuff.

Mr Smith I concur. But then I'm not a fan of the show anyway although watched a few early episodes. James Bolam best character me thinks. Otherwise poor. My parents love it however!
