The Rise And Rise Of Michael Rimmer
Starring the legendary comic Peter Cook in the title role, The Rise And Rise Of Michael Rimmer charts the dangerously ambitious political actions of the titular Michael Rimmer. Co-written by and starring some of the biggest names in British comedy, including John Cleese and Graham Chapman, and featuring an acting turn from playwright Harold Pinter, this is a brilliantly observed satire.
Rimmer manipulates, cheats and murders his way to the top of his profession and eventually to the head of all government: President of Great Britain. His 'charisma-heavy', 'policy-light' style of leadership, through relentless opinion polls, referenda and underhand electoral practices, somehow wins the hearts of the nation - at the expense of the country.
