A pair of council workmen specialising in at-height work raise their boss's ire when they first destroy their high-access truck-bed structure, then burn through a brand new extended length ladder. But he has a surprise in store: a brand new hydraulic cherry-picker from Simon engineering.
Unfortunately for these two labourers the council shares its depot with the local fire station, and the arrival of a brand new, automated, high-access platform in the yard sets the two parties on edge!
Practising with the new bit of kit, the first workman spies a beautiful typist working on an upper floor in one of the adjoining office buildings and sets about charming her, but the fire brigade's lead operator of their platform is keen not to be outdone and is soon showing off his own aerial prowess.
After an aerial battle reminiscent of a Second World War dogfight, the two men forge cordial relations, and there's soon a chance to prove their new-found friendship when the town clerk is robbed at the depot's gate, resulting in a high-speed chase and the opportunity to put their platforms to use in tracking the robber making his getaway!
