Karl and Harry had been friends forever, until that momentous day when Harry caught Karl with his wife. During a subsequent magic show, Harry accidentally chopped off his wife's head with a guillotine, and Harry and Karl parted ways. Years later Harry is struggling to keep a job, and so gets in contact with Karl (who is similarly struggling) to discuss doing the Magic Shield Competition.
However, when they arrive together, they begin to remember why they could not work together and so seek alternative methods of winning.
