Succession star Brian Cox has joined the cast of Vic & Bob's long-gestating film The Glove.

In the works for almost two decades and slated to shoot this spring, the film is the feature debut of the Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer double act, with Jim Moir revealing in June that it is likely to be his Reeves character's final outing.

The plot follows the pair's characters on a road trip across England as they search for an elusive piece of celebrity memorabilia - Michael Jackson's "training" glove.

Appearing on Channel 4's Sunday Brunch show earlier this month, Mortimer appeared unsure if the almost equally elusive movie was still going ahead.

"It's a funny business that I don't really understand" he said of filmmaking. "We put the script in and occasionally we hear that it's going to start."

Responding to presenter Tim Lovejoy's question about whether it was indeed filming next year, he simply said: "Don't know. I don't know, I can't say."

However, the film's distributors Altitude have today revealed Cox's casting. Though predominately known for his dramatic roles, the twice Emmy-nominated Scottish actor took the title role in two series of BBC sitcom Bob Servant, with other comedy credits including Red Dwarf, French And Saunders and Alas Smith & Jones.

The Glove will be directed by Tim Kirkby (Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle, Fleabag) for StudioPOW and produced by Perry Trevers and Gina Powell at StudioPOW and Kevin Proctor and Nicola Holt at YES! Media, while co-producers are Patricia Rybarcyk and Sacha Bennett of Three Wise Monkeys. Further casting has yet to be confirmed.
