Carry On Camping trivia

Filmed in a cold, wet autumn, muddy ground and bare trees had to be spray-painted green to create the illusion of a warmer season for the film.

Conditions were so muddy that many scenes were shot only from the waist up, whilst the actors sank into the mud and perched upon duckboards.

Carry On Camping was originally mooted in 1966, with filming originally planned to take place at the end of that year. It took until early 1968 for writer Talbot Rothwell to produce a script to the satisfaction of producer Peter Rogers.

Filming took place between 7th October and 22nd November 1968, primarily in what were then orchards at the back of the Pinewood Studios estate.
