Frequently asked questions

Here are answers to some of the questions we are regularly asked.

When will the comedy I'm interested in be released on Blu-ray/DVD/CD/download?

Take a look at our coming soon page - that is a complete list of all the new products that have been announced. If you can't see the comedy you want on the list then we're not sure when it will be released. Get more help on this topic

Will there be another series of the comedy I like?

If it isn't on our returning TV comedy list (or radio) we can't yet say whether it will be back. Sometimes commissioners take quite a while to decide if a show is returning. See the Press page in our Guide for the comedy you're interested in to see if there are any indications.

I'd like to include some of your content on my website / homework / in something I'm writing. Can I use it?

Probably! But please check with us first. In certain situations we may not be able to share our exclusive content or there maybe copyright issues in regards to the images, but the majority of the time we'll normally be quite happy for you to use a copy, as long as it is for non-commercial reasons.

Can I go and watch my favourite comedy being filmed?

It depends. Some comedies have a closed set, but many of those that record in front of a live audience offer tickets for free. Tickets are issued on a first-come first-served basis via various booking websites. See our TV tickets and radio tickets pages for a list of the shows that are currently being recorded. Note: Sometimes TV companies will issue more tickets than there are seats available in order to ensure they still have a packed studio in the event some people don't turn up... so if you get tickets, get there early!

I want to write comedy...

BCG Pro will answer all your writing, production and performing related questions; from getting an agent to where to send your script.

Where can I find out more about an actor / comedian?

Our People Profiles have loads of details. Also, Google is an obvious place to look. IMDb.com is also worth checking out: whilst neither complete nor comprehensive, it does list the key roles of most well-known actors.

How do I get an autograph or contact an actor?

If you'd like to get an autograph, the easiest thing to do may be to buy one from an auction website like eBay (BCG may earn a small commission on sales via this link). However, watch out for fakes! If you'd like a personalised autograph from a comedy star you'll need to contact their agent or, if you'd like an entire cast photo, you'd need to talk to the production company. Production company details can be found via our Production Guides, and actors' agents can usually be found through our own People Profiles or Google.

How do I appear/act in a comedy?

This is too big a question for us to answer. We suggest looking at acting websites. Be warned: it is quite hard to get on screen and you normally need to be an established actor already. Some comedies look out for extras though so keep an eye on production company websites and resources such as Be-On-Screen. BCG Pro also offers opportunities and advice for actors.

Who runs this website?

Just a handful of comedy fans! For more information about who is behind British Comedy Guide, see our about page.
