Improv in the media - There's Something About Movies

For the final game in the show, the guest and the team captain have to recreate a famous scene in a film - the only catch is one of them has the script and the other doesn't so they have to improvise the dialogue in the scene. It is so great to see this improv game as the centre of a comedy show as it is one of the best improv games to play as an improviser. However, saying that, you notice very early which sort of people are good at improv and who finds it difficult.

Review: My Dad Boris

Charlotte Evans' My Dad Boris is a 30-minute stand-up set that takes the Prime Minister's alleged affairs as the starting point for a humorous exploration of father-daughter relationships with Evans the blonde-haired result of a 1993 union between Johnson and a flight attendant during a trip to Brussels. The resultant show is based around her attempts to make contact, their similarities and the ultimate hope that one night the PM will actually attend the show.

Henry Normal: the John Robb interview

Henry Normal has had a fascinating career - he started in the UK eighties underground promoting DIY gigs like one by my band The Membranes in Chesterfield in 1986 and went on to part of the team that propelled Steve Coogan into the mainstream and form Baby Cow - the TV media company responsible for so much of the best comedy in the past decades. He was inspired by post punk and especially the ranting poets like Swells who we also talk about in-depth in this interview as well as his upcoming poetry tour and book and how to cope with autism...

We Are Lady Parts: an endearingly angsty teenage dream

We Are Lady Parts is at once a delightful coming-of-age story and an authentic representation of varied Muslim experiences courtesy of its five discernible protagonists.

Arthur Smith

Brighton Fringe review: Arthur Smith - Syd

The source material Smith uses is a memoir the family asked Syd to write in his 70's. It's a lovely book to have as a reminiscence of a life well lived and from it Smith junior tells the crowd a number of funny and touching stories from the 1940s and 50's which have the gathering in fits of laughter, and sometimes groans, as Syd's humour is presented, to our appreciation.
