US housewives are signing up to BritBox

BritBox, the subscription streaming service backed by ITV and the BBC, may have struggled to attract viewers in the UK, but it has proved to be a hit on the other side of the Atlantic with an unlikely audience: women aged 45 and over. Since launching in America nearly four years ago, the website has reached 1.5 million subscribers by tapping into the "underserved" female audience that enjoys the collection of British classics from Midsomer Murders to Dad's Army.
