I love this photograph. It may be the coolest portrait ever. I just happen to be in it.

T. Chick McClure is an amazing LA based photographer who asked me to be part of his "Milk" series. As he told Paper Magazine, he started the series before he fully came out as transgender. The series was an exploration of masculinity from behind the safety of the lens. He photographed men whose masculinity was so ingrained in their being that even covered in something as feminine as milk, they were still secure and seemed to be dripping in testosterone. He was looking for a glimpse into his future.

I'm honoured that Chick is letting me use the picture. The name and theme of the show were inspired by what I see in the image: a grown man who isn't just crying over spilled milk, aka life's little problems, but screaming at himself as it pours onto him because he stepped into it. I caused my own problems, and this show is about taking responsibility for that.
