My name is Mike, the 'losaavedra' bit is a part of my house address which makes it easy for me to remember! Please see my Writers Directory entry for all the other gory details ...
I've lived in the small town of Rojales on the Costa Blanca in Spain since 1996 following a 35 year career in computing in the UK where I spent a lot of time writing intricate technical texts. Although now 'early retired' I still have strong interests in Music, Painting and Writing. I've worked as an advisor to a UK SitCom writing team and have completed a two hour drama series script involving musicians, a subject chosen because it's something I know a bit about!
I'm particularly interested in all aspects of the 'process' of script writing (especially with regard to comedy) and I'm currently involved in the early stages in the development a new SitCom series set in S. America. I prefer what I term the 'classic' type of SitCom ... everything being about the characters, situations, and humour that should come from this naturally without resorting to dialogue containing expletives, excessive innuendo, neo-racist content ... and so on. In my opinion the best SitComs ever (I'd probably rate Fawlty Towers at the top of my list) didn't seem to need to contain any of that stuff. My thoughts on situation comedy writing can be found in the Writing section of this site in an article entitled 'SitCom - Why Audiences Laugh'.
I also provided an external website address in the box here that was kind of begging for some sort of entry. It has nothing to do with SitCom at all but has me doing my blues music thing in there somewhere. Together with playing all the musical parts I also wrote the lyrics ... but it should be avoided by those unable to tolerate the vocal sounds of a throttled cat!!!
