He is of course by far and away best known and most-loved for his timeless role as Dad's Army's Captain George Mainwaring, but actor Arthur Lowe - and Ian Lavendar (Private Pike) - also starred in the early 1970s in Radio 2 sitcom Parsley Sidings. In many ways not wholly dissimilar to David Croft's 1990s TV comedy Oh Doctor Beeching!, it's set at a quiet rural railway station facing closure. Guide
