Alexander Armstrong and Ben Miller are set to star in a Channel 4 sitcom pilot, it has been announced.

Felix And Murdo is a new audience sitcom from Simon Nye, the creator of Men Behaving Badly and co-writer of Reggie Perrin, set at the London Olympics - in 1908.

The comedy duo will star as title characters Felix and Murdo, two gentlemen about town who are also competitors in the games. The Edwardian gents are described as "just like lads in 2011, except all the best drugs are still legal". They will indulge in all the vices of Edwardian London; alcohol, drugs, and plenty of sex.

Nye has made forays into period comedy in the past, with programmes such as the 1998 - 1999 sitcom The Last Salute, about a group of 1960s AA patrolmen, and the Christmas 2010 adaptation of Just William, for CBBC.

Felix And Murdo is being produced by Objective Productions, the company behind Nye's recent adaptation of comedy classic The Fall And Rise Of Reginald Perrin, as well as Peep Show, The Kevin Bishop Show, and Tonightly. It will be directed by Christine Gernon, whose credits include Gavin & Stacey, One Foot In The Grave and Grandma's House, and produced by Objective's Ben Farrell (Pete Versus Life, The Peter Serafinowicz Show).

The pilot will be recorded on Sunday 26th June at BBC Television Centre. To apply to be in the audience see our free tickets page
