David Walliams is to record a new sketch show for BBC One.

Titled Walliams And Friend, a pilot for the potential new series is to be recorded on Saturday 19th September.

The programme will star Walliams alongside impressionist and comic actor Morgana Robinson (The Morgana Show, House Of Fools), and actor and writer Mike Wozniak (Man Down, Ruby Robinson).

Joanna Lumley is also to guest star in the pilot, according to ticketing agency SRO.

The new show means the end of Walliams's sitcom Big School after two series. The comic previously revealed that the BBC had asked for a third series of the comedy, co-starring Catherine Tate, Steve Speirs and Frances De La Tour, but that "sadly there wasn't time to do both".

Walliams And Friend sees the actor and writer reunite with his Big School writing partners The Dawson Brothers, aka Andrew Dawson, Steve Dawson and Tim Inman.

The news follows recent reports that the comic is already developing a new sitcom idea based on his time as a judge on ITV talent contest Britain's Got Talent.

Walliams has also been in the news today as it has also been reported that he and his wife, Dutch model Lara Stone, are to be granted a "quickie" divorce today, Thursday 10th September.

Produced by David Walliams's own production company, King Bert, the pilot for Walliams And Friend will be recorded next weekend at The London Studios on London's Southbank. To apply to be in the audience see our free tickets page
