Goodness Gracious Me is to return to TV screens.

The stars behind the hit sketch show will record a brand new one-off themed special in March.

This new episode follows on from a 2014 reunion special, which was recorded to celebrate 50 years of BBC Two.

Attracting 1.49 million viewers when it was broadcast in May, the special was well received by both the press and viewers.

The new episode will again feature the main cast of Sanjeev Bhaskar, Kulvinder Ghir, Meera Syal, Nina Wadia and Dave Lamb.

The BBC confirm: "After their successful reunion in 2014 the original cast from the award winning sketch show will return for another one-off special of the ground-breaking British Asian sketch show, featuring some new characters and old favourites."

The 2015 episode will be recorded at BBC Elstree Studios on the 7th March. Due to the popularity of the show the BBC are operating a random lottery for the tickets. To apply, visit our free tickets page

Goodness Gracious Me was a major hit for the BBC in the late 1990s. The format, which started life as a Radio 4 series in 1996, ran for three series on BBC Two and the stars also toured the most popular characters with a live theatre show.

The programme was widely praised for its funny scripts and also for helping to bring British Indian and Pakistani culture to a mainstream audience.

The new special will be shown on BBC Two in the Autumn.

Below is a sketch from the last special, in which the team spoofed the pop song Blurred Lines:
