ITV2 is to pilot a new panel show format.

Safe Word will involve comedians examining, and also meddling with, the lives of celebrities.

The producers explain that the celebrity guests will place their reputations "in the hands of some of the best comedians around".

They add: "Each round will unearth embarrassing secrets and we'll hijack their social media world along the way teasing them to reveal all."

However, if it gets too much the guests can stop the probing by using their 'Safe Word'.

The marketing text says of the project: "Top comedians, top celebs, incredible revelations. Safe Word - the show where no comment, no story, no tweet or post is really that safe."

The show will be hosted by Rick Edwards (pictured). The former T4 presenter has previously appeared as a guest on ITV2's other panel shows, Celebrity Juice and Viral Tap.

Edwards, who now presents shows including Made In Chelsea's end of series specials and BBC Three's political discussion show Free Speech, has worked in comedy before. In 2011 he created Comedy Lab pilot Rick & Peter and more recently wrote Baguettes, a short comic film starring Diane Morgan and Nick Mohammed.

ITV is currently looking to find another hit panel show to sit alongside the hit Keith Lemon vehicle Celebrity Juice. Its latest launch is Reality Bites, a panel show focused on reality TV.

At the moment Safe Word is just a pilot project, which may or may not make it to television. A run-through will be undertaken at the Soho Theatre on the afternoon of Friday 27th February, with the pilot itself recorded at ITV's London Studios on Thursday 5th March 2015.
