Comedian Katherine Ryan is to pilot her own comedy series.

The Canadian comic is working with production company Hat Trick to develop Katherine Ryan's Famous Celebrity Show, a new format in which she turns her eye to "the insane world of celebrity".

Producers explain: "Katherine will be joined by top comedians and celebrity guests who will be giving us their take on the week's movers and shakers, from Kim Jong to Kim Kardashian and all the crazies in between."

A pilot/try-out episode, with guest star Dane Baptiste, will be recorded at London's RADA Studios on Thursday 5th February.

It is not yet known whether the format is intended as a television or radio programme. If you wish to be in the audience for the show, see our free tickets page

Based in the UK for nearly 10 years, Ryan has risen to prominence over the last 18 months in particular, with a string of successful appearances on television comedies including 8 Out Of 10 Cats, Mock The Week and Live At The Apollo.

She also appeared as an actor in Episodes, Count Arthur Strong, Campus, and starred alongside sketch group Pappy's in the second series of their sitcom, Badults.

Ryan is booked to appear on The Jonathan Ross Show on Saturday.

The comedian was also a guest on the most recent new episode of Room 101, broadcast on Friday. In the following clip, she argues for pop star Cheryl Fernandez-Versini to be banished:
