Michael McIntyre has been announced as the host of The Royal Variety Performance for 2014.

The prestigious annual event will be held on Thursday 13th November at the London Palladium, with Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in attendance.

To be broadcast by ITV in December, the show is staged in aid of the Entertainment Artistes' Benevolent Fund, whose patron is Her Majesty The Queen. The money raised from the show helps those people from the world of entertainment in need of care and assistance.

McIntyre will introduce fellow comics Sarah Millican, Russell Kane and Jack Whitehall, plus TV presenter and magician Stephen Mulhern performing a magical routine.

Global stars Dame Shirley Bassey, Bette Midler, Demi Lovato and Ed Sheeran will headline the evening's entertainment.

Also appearing will be BRIT Award-winner Ellie Goulding, Britain's Got Talent winners Collabro, the cast of multi-award winning musical Miss Saigon, critically acclaimed tenor Alfie Boe, and Ladysmith Black Mambazo's Inala.

McIntyre is also returning to the stage of the Hammersmith Apollo in December, hosting the fifth annual Michael McIntyre's Christmas Charity Show in aid of Kids Company. Tickets for the event will be available from tomorrow morning

McIntyre has appeared in the Royal Variety Performance line-up a number of times previously, and became its youngest ever host when he fronted the 2010 show.
