Channel 4 has launched Taxi Gags, an online comedy series involving stand-up comedians talking about different subjects.

The format sees various comedians given a lift in the back of a taxi, during which time they share out loud their thoughts and anecdotes on different topics. Each short episode, which is themed around a different topic, features extracts from various comedians' thoughts on the same subject. Food, Dreams, Sport, Alcohol and Love are amongst the themes covered.

The producers explains: "Channel4 has invited some of the best live UK comics to take a seat in its brand new taxi service. As they journey around town you, the viewer, can find out exactly what our comedic commuters really think about all the things that matter: everything from what they'd do if they ruled the world to the secrets of a good night in the sack."

The comedians involved in the series are Aisling Bea, Des Clarke, Jason Cook, Marlon Davis, Mark Dolan, Jay Foreman, Kerry Godliman, Rhys James, Eric Lampaert, Tony Law, Pierre Novellie, Celia Pacquola, Ellie Taylor and Henning Wehn.

Channel 4 says: "Our comedy vehicle lets you into mind-blowing insights, such as Aisling Bea's reasoning on why babies should go to war, Tony Law's admission that he is singlehandedly responsible for the single-shoe-in-the-street phenomenon, a confession from Kerry Godliman that she was once duped into sex by the offer of a cup of tea and why Marlon Davis thinks your boss should shit on your desk - and much, much more!"

The series has been created by The Comedy Unit, the production company behind shows such as Badults and Rab C Nesbitt.

Twelve episodes are available to view now. Watch on Channel4.com

This is not the first series to feature comedians being interviewed in transport. Robert Llewellyn presented Carpool first as an online show, then on channel Dave in 2010, whilst American comedian Jerry Seinfeld presents Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee.

Taxi Gags has been released on the same day as three new online series going under the Comedy Blaps branding. Lives Of The Infamous by Jim Howick and Oliver Maltman is a mockumentary about two notorious gangsters; Flavours, created by Miles Chapman and Mark O'Sullivan, consists of two character comedies; and Chewing Gum starring Michaela Coel is a teaser for the forthcoming TV comedy drama series of the same name.
