WitTank, the sketch group comprising of Kieran Boyd, Mark Cooper-Jones and Naz Osmanoglu, is working on a new TV sitcom.

Production company Avalon Television confirm the trio are working with them to "record a new scripted pilot and further develop the series" for E4.

The comedians are collaborating with writer Dan Atkinson on a half-hour pilot episode, with a view to developing it into a full series. Details of the plot of this sitcom has not yet been revealed.

WitTank have been making a name for themselves on the live comedy circuit and are currently performing their latest show - Old School Secrets - at the Edinburgh Festival. The trio's previous broadcast credits include Radio 4's Sketchorama and BBC Three's Live At The Electric, on the latter of which they were regulars across three series.

Channel 4's Head Of Comedy Phil Clarke says: "I'm very pleased that we are making a pilot with the WitTank team. They have a unique high energy attack to their comedy. It's original and anarchic in spirit, but also accessible and charming. They keep the jokes coming thick and fast, but don't let that get in the way of telling a good comic tale."

Agent Jon Thoday adds: "We are very excited to be producing this show for E4. WitTank's anarchic humour and boundless energy on stage has already proved to be a huge hit with live audiences, and I'm delighted that we are going to get the chance to develop this for television."
