BBC Two has ordered a new "Cluedo-esque" comedy series from the producers of The Wrong Mans.

Set during a stag do in Scotland, Stag will follow events as the members of the party begin getting mysteriously killed.

Broadcast magazine reports that the six-part series has been written by George Kay, a partner in Idiotlamp Productions, which was established by The Wrong Mans producer-director Jim Field Smith, and is believed to be behind this new series.

Kay's previous writing credits include an episode of BBC period news drama The Hour.

Kim Shillinglaw, BBC Two controller, described the comedy as being from the Wrong Mans team, but no further details have been revealed.

Speaking to The Observer at the weekend, Shillinglaw said "[Comedy] needs to be taken as seriously as classical music at the BBC. When you make people laugh, you create a bit of love. It's a special thing.

"But it goes beyond that. It holds up a mirror, tells you something about the absurdity of British life. You see that with The Office, The Thick Of It and, in a slightly more parochial way, with W1A.

"That series is very much in our minds. The other day, I saw a poster telling me to be an "idea-rator". No, I've no idea what it means either. But I immediately took a photograph of it and sent it to Hugh Bonneville."

Thriller comedy The Wrong Mans was created, written by and starred James Corden and Mathew Baynton. It is due to return for a second series, expected to be broadcast in 2015.
