Alexander Armstrong will front a new TV comedy pilot.

You Must Be Joking! is described as "an exciting new comedy entertainment show featuring top comedians flexing their comedy muscles across some fun filled comedy challenges."

The format is being developed by Hat Trick Productions, the producers of shows such as Have I Got News For You, Fonejacker and Room 101.

The company explains: "this fast-paced laughter-filled show will see four of the country's most exciting comedians battling it out over some hilarious and ingenuous games of stand-up, improv and one liners."

The pilot will be recorded on Monday 9th June at 3:30pm at The London Television Centre. To apply to be in the audience see our free tickets page

The episode is unlikely to be broadcast on TV, but will be instead used by producers to decide whether to develop the format further.

Alexander Armstrong has previously hosted Best Of The Worst, Alexander Armstrong's Big Ask and the shortlived Saturday night BBC One series Epic Win. He has also fronted various non-broadcast pilots last year, including a show titled The Battle Of The Ages and an ITV format called You Couldn't Make It Up.

Armstrong continues to host the popular quiz show Pointless. The BBC Daytime show has managed to clock up ratings as high as 5 million viewers, whilst the Celebrity-based Saturday night version has clocked up ratings as high as 7.7 million. Earlier this year it was announced that the show would run for at least another 204 episodes as part of a multi-series deal.
