The BBC is working on a new comedy programme called The Javone Prince Show.

The format will star Javone Prince, a comic currently best known for playing Jerwayne in the E4 sitcom PhoneShop.

The pilot for The Javone Prince Show will feature characters, sketches and 'bare madnesses'. Soul singer Omar Lye-Fook will also perform live as part of the show.

The producers have arranged to test out the format in front of an audience on Thursday 27th March 2014 at The Rivoli Ballroom in Catford.

Javone Prince has worked in sketch comedy before. As an actor, he has appeared in a number of TV shows, including Sorry, I've Got No Head, Little Miss Jocelyn and Horrible Histories.

In an interview to promote PhoneShop, Prince spoke about how he has been a life-long fan of comedy. "The first comedian I watched growing up was Benny Hill, he had a comedy show on Monday nights on ITV. I think I was about seven or eight and it used to be so funny. I also loved Laurel and Hardy on BBC Two, I loved the chemistry that they had between them."

He added: "My ultimate comedy film, which is why I wanted to get involved in comedy, was the 1988 film Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, it was the whipping scene where Michael Caine whipped Steve Martin and I screamed with laughter. I decided then, as an eight year old child, that I wanted to do comedy."

It is believed that The Javone Prince Show may be intended to form part of 2014's Comedy Feeds line-up.

There is no news yet on whether E4 are going to order a fourth series of PhoneShop. In the below clip, taken from the last series, Jerwayne and Ash (Andrew Brooke) deal with a customer:
