Rhod Gilbert has been named as the host of I Know Best, a new TV panel show pilot in which the audience must try to work out if the guests are lying or not.

The stand-up comedian will front a not-for-broadcast trial episode of the show next Thursday.

Producers say: "We are looking for audience members who will compete against our panel. The panel members will try to convince the audience they are telling them facts while the audience have to judge if the panel are lying. The person who reads the panel best wins!"

The pilot will be recorded in the afternoon of Thursday the 27th of February 2014 in London. To apply to be in the audience see our free tickets page

I Know Best has been devised by Wall To Wall, the production company behind BBC One shows such as talent contest The Voice, genealogy series Who Do You Think You Are? and the detective drama New Tricks. This will be their first comedy project.

However, it will not be Rhod Gilbert's first time as a host of a TV show. In 2010 and 2011 he presented two series of BBC One panel show Ask Rhod Gilbert.

The comedian, who also presents a Saturday morning show on BBC Radio Wales, is additionally the star of Rhod Gilbert's Work Experience, a popular factual entertainment TV series in which he tries out different jobs. A fifth series of the show is expected to be filmed later this year.

Speaking in an interview last October, Gilbert said that due to his increasing TV and radio commitments he no longer has so much time to perform live, and may even stop doing so. He told Wales Online: "The stand-up is getting pushed further and further into the background, to the point where I've started to ask myself if I'll have time to go back to it at all."
