The Hobgoblin Comedy Award 2014 - Last call for entries

Hobgoblin Comedy Award

The Hobgoblin Comedy Award is looking to name comedy's next big thing, with the deadline to enter the competition now a few days away.

Whether you're an expert at one-liners, a musical comic, physical performer, sketch act, cabaret star or an alternative comedian, it's simple: if you're funny, you're in with a chance in the 2014 Hobgoblin Comedy Awards.

Make it through your local heat and then crush the opposition at the Hobgoblin Big Gig Grand Finale and comedy glory could be yours!

To enter the competition, which is being organised by Wychwood Brewery, you should upload a video clip, a brief biography and a photo to the competition's mini-site on www.wychwood.co.uk

Be quick though, the entry deadline is soon: 23:59 on Monday 22nd September 2014.

Acts will then be chosen from the uploaded entries and invited to perform at the regional heats taking place in 19 venues up and down the country; from Belfast to Brighton, Liverpool to London. Regional comedy promoters, venue programmers and the award team will act as judges.

All heats will be presided over compère Tiernan Douieb, who will be driving up and down the land in the Limited Edition Hobgoblin Jag (pictured below).

The winners of each heat will battle it out at the Hobgoblin Big Gig, set to take place at De Montfort Hall, Leicester, on the 7th February 2015 as part of Dave's Leicester Comedy Festival. Katherine Ryan, Arthur Smith and Matt Richardson will complete the line-up.

The winner will receive a cash prize of £2,000, a photoshoot, a show reel and further guaranteed performances at key comedy festivals and clubs around the UK in 2015. The regional winners will automatically receive a photoshoot and promotional video too.
