In celebration of A Liar's Autobiography - The Untrue Story of Monty Python's Graham Chapman - which is getting its premiere at the Toronto Film Festival later this year - producers are launching a global online animation competition titled Animate Chapman.

A Liar's Autobiography will premiere in selected cinemas in November in the UK, USA and Canada. The film matches the recordings Graham Chapman made of his book in 1982 with sound from the present and animations from 14 different people, in 17 different styles.

The aim of the linked competition is to "find enthusiastic animators to bring Graham Chapman and Monty Python's sketches back to life." The competition is open to all - so if you're a budding animator do consider getting involved.

For the contest, eight audio clips that span Chapman's career have been selected, specifically chosen for their diversity and absurdness. These are provided to give those entering a launch point to visualise Graham's world in their own style and technique. The organisers say: "Hand drawn, CGI, typographic, collage, stopmotion; the animation possibilities are endless."

Nine winners will be chosen by a judging panel, and an additional entry will be chosen by Facebook voters. Each will receive a copy of the Adobe Creative Suite 6 Production Premium software (Adobe are sponsoring the competition), and their work will then be showcased on PythonLine and the Monty Python YouTube channel. The animations will also be considered as possible extras on the film's official DVD, pending appropriate copyright clearance.

For more information and to download the audio you need, visit www.animatechapman.com. Once you've finished your piece, you'll need to upload it to the official Facebook page and share it with your friends. Final submissions must be received by October 22.
