BBC Three calls for Feed My Funny 2013 submissions

BBC Three's Feed My Funny

Following the success of the inaugural 'Feed My Funny' batch of online comedy pilots, which launched on BBC Three's website three weeks ago, the channel is calling for further script submissions.

BBC Three Controller Zai Bennett said today: "BBC Three takes its role as a comedy innovator rather seriously. We want writers, directors and performers to feel they have the space to really develop characters and shows, so we're rolling out our hugely successful online pilot initiative for another year. This year we commissioned seven pilots and we are taking one to series. We're hoping to at least match that again this year."

For the 2013 batch of shows, BBC Three says it is looking for "innovative" and "standout ideas", across "fresh formats" and featuring "new talent", both in front of and behind the camera. The pilot strand has the primary intention of developing and showcasing new programmes for possible commissions for full series TV broadcasts, so submissions should be full-length comedy formats - a minimum of 15 minutes.

The window for submissions closes at the end of September, with productions needing completion by 31st March 2013. There's just one catch: all submissions need to be made directly to the corporation's comedy and entertainment commissioners, via established independent production companies with which the BBC already has a working relationship.
