Enter the Amused Moose Laugh Off 2014 stand-up contest

Amused Moose Laugh Off

The entry form for the 2014 Amused Moose Laugh Off stand-up competition is now available.

The contest, which aims to discover the next generation of comedy stars, will be holding qualifying rounds in London from the end of January.

The producers explain: "In association with leading UK DVD company 2entertain/BBCWorldwide, this exciting countrywide talent search for comedy's brand new comic gems is famed for discovering the comedy stars of the future. Previous Amused Moose Laugh Off winners include Sarah Millican and Jack Whitehall."

Other finalists to have taken part in the contest since it launched in 2004 include Greg Davies, Rhod Gilbert, Jimmy Carr, Andi Osho and Simon Amstell.

As in previous years, the final will be held at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August. This year the prize package includes a £1500 cash prize.

The conditions of entry include that you do not have a DVD-type deal or career support of any kind (e.g. you don't have an agent yet), nor have reached an Amused Moose Final previously. Those interested in taking part are urged to fill in the online form quickly. The producers say: "Places fill up fast so there's no time to waste."

The organisers add: "Amused Moose Comedy Awards have proved to be a fantastic shop window for new talent, with finalists being quickly signed by leading agents and promoters. Also there is the opportunity to be spotted in Amused Moose Comedy showcases at the Edinburgh Fringe and London's Soho Theatre, as well as in AFTERHOURS at the Edinburgh Fringe, alongside previous winners and finalists some of whom are now rather famous! So if you want to set your stand-up career off to a flying start, showcasing your talents to the comedy industry, take your first steps towards your own DVD and have a shot at the main prize of £1500 to invest in the development of your comedy career, what are you waiting for?"
