Walk On The Wild Side
Family comedy series in which a group of comedians voiceover footage from the BBC's natural history department
Meet the Not-Very-Scary-Sharks, the Scratching Badgers, the DIY Orangutan, the Vultures' Flying School and a marmot called Alan. They all come together in this show which combines the comedy talents of Jason Manford and friends together with the BBC's best natural history footage.
Our Review: This show was originall aimed squarely at a family audience: always a tricky task to get right. The pilot, shown in March 2009, was fairly fun, but definitely something more for the kids than adult viewers. The full series is much the same: there are a few great sketches, and the new guest stars add a little 'something', but the half-hour length of the episodes mean that there are more misses than hits and a fair number of repeated sketches. It appears the BBC now feel the same, with a second pilot and brand new series now seeing the show move to CBBC.
