The title of this sitcom, and the theme tune, is a reference to the 1980 single Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps Please by Splodgenessabounds.

The name of the Two Pints pub (The Archer) is a reference to the show's script editor, Paul Mayhew-Archer. The first series included a second pub, 'The Mayhew'.

In Two Pints' unbroadcast pilot, the female roles were played by different actresses: Sheridan Smith had auditioned for the role of Janet, but been turned down.

In the 2009 Comic Relief special, the cast of Two Pints was joined by the casts of Grownups and Coming Of Age - two other BBC Three sitcoms made by largely the same production team. However, Sheridan Smith was also the star of Grownups: as a result, she had to spend two days changing between costumes and talking to body-doubles so that it could appear as if Janet, her character in Two Pints, was talking to Michelle, her character in Grownups.

The band in Series 9's The Gaz-Bot were real North London four-piece band Eudora Fletcher.

The series was cancelled by incoming BBC Three boss Zai Bennett after its ninth series, despite increasing audience figures. He cancelled every comedy on the channel at the same time.
