Alf and Else Garnett - the latter returned from Australia - have retired and left the grime of Wapping, and are now resident in a pleasant bungalow beside the sea in Eastbourne.
Following the recent death of Bert, Else has invited Min to come and live with them: a source of much further tension.
This sitcom followed Till Death Us Do Part, with In Sickness And In Health following in turn, and largely ignoring this series.
