1910 - three stokers and long term friends, from the SS Chesapeake, have just been let ashore with £12 each in their pockets. Whilst wasting their money in all the pubs, Ginger bets Sam that he can't down a pot of ale in one go. With the bet taken, Ginger sabotages his attempt by saying something to distract Sam. Their friendship broken, it can not be reforged unless Sam can exact his revenge!
