Meet Penelope, a young lady with a very special power... she can talk to animals. But as any hero knows, with great power comes great responsibility and now Penelope's gift has taken her, along with her orphan friend Kyle and bird Ruby, all the way to England where the trio have only 3762 hours to save the world from the evil MP Thomas Stone.

In an epic battle of brain and brawn - that takes in Shakespeare, stately homes, dastardly schemes and martial arts trained fighting twins - will Penelope and Kyle's ingenuity, along the help of their animal friends be enough to save the day?

Our Review: Er... we're not quite sure how to review this sitcom. Some people will no doubt love it, others are likely to hate it.

Throw together some deliberately over-the-top acting with some pretty low-rent puppets, and a couple of charming comedy actors, and this slightly surreal pilot is what you'll end up with. 'Kooky' would be a good word to describe Penelope Princess Of Pets.

Personally we didn't really laugh-out-loud, but enjoyed the ride as Kristen Schaal and Kurt Braunohler are infectiously likeable and there were some good lines sprinkled through the script (for example, we liked the fact Kyle called himself an orphan... because he didn't live at home with him mum anymore).

The pilot ended with a definite hint at what would be to come if the duo were given a full series, so now the wait is on to see if Channel 4 give them the green light to continue their mission of peace.

(Note: fans of this pilot might like to watch the original American version of this sitcom which is quite similar to this new pilot in many ways, whilst also having some big differences. YouTube)
