Series 2, Episode 4 - University Challenge

Mark meets a student called April in a shoe shop and decides to return to see her again, but discovers that she has gone to university in Dartmouth.

Further details

Jez has a gig to play in the same city, so Mark goes along on the pretext of wanting to see his band play.

Mark develops a crush on a shoe shop assistant, April but when he returns to try to meet her again he finds that she has gone back to university.

Super Hans tells Jeremy that he is ditching him to go on tour with another band, Executioners Bong, but gives in to Jeremy's pleading and allows him to come along as a roadie. Their first gig is in the university that April is attending so Mark tags along.

In an attempt to meet April, Mark gatecrashes her tutorial and even finds himself invited along with April to a party in the tutor's home. Mark now has to pretend to be a mature student in order to pursue April who has 'the magic combination of beauty and low self-esteem'.

Executioners Bong has a row with Super Hans and asks Jeremy to stand in as front man.

Mark and Jeremy go to a corner shop but the shop owner catches Jeremy shoplifting and locks them in a store room. They escape but this causes Jeremy to be late for the gig. Jeremy turns up to find that Super Hans has been rehabilitated and makes a fool of himself by going on stage anyway and being thrown off by security.

In the next scene Mark is at the professor's party. Jeremy turns up, barges in and tries to blow Mark's cover as a mature student. However Mark still gets to go back to April's hall of residence and attempts to sleep with her. She turns him down because it's too early and she believes that they'll be in college together for another three years anyway so they will have plenty of time.

Of course the next morning Mark has to leave knowing he'll never see April again, 'this will haunt me for the rest of my life'.
